JSC RAO «UES of Russia» and the State Grid Corporation of China signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which originated the project implementation, set out tasks to study technical aspects of the project, to develop strategy and to determine the project schedule. The Parties specified the volume of additional electric power export to China in the volume of 20 billion kWh per year.

JSC RAO «UES of Russia» and the State Grid Corporation of China signed a Long-Term Cooperation Agreement. By the initiative of China, the export volume was increased up to 30 billion kWh per year.
march 2006
JSC RAO «UES of Russia» and the State Grid Corporation of China signed an Agreement for Feasibility Study development. In this Agreement, the parties specified the project stages, the target export in the volume of 60 billion kWh per year, and fixed the pricing policy.
november 2006
JSC RAO «UES of Russia» and the State Grid Corporation of China signed an Agreement on the Project Underlying Principles. To confirm the commencement of the first stage of the project, the parties signed a sales and purchase contract for the electric power of 3.6-4.5 billion kWh per year.

The Board of Directors of JSC RAO «UES of Russia» approved general approaches to the project implementation, took the decision to establish JSC «Eastern Energy Company» – the Russian project operator and the holder of the export contract for electric power supply to China.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao signed a Joint Declaration to support implementation of large-scale two-party projects in the energy sector - one of the directions of the mutually advantageous cooperation.
JULY 2008
According to the resolution of OAO RAO UES of Russia shareholders, upon the completion of the power industry reforms and discontinuation of OAO RAO UES activities, the 100% share of JSC Eastern Energy Company was transferred to ÎÀÎ INTER RAO UES – the major Russian power exporter and importer.
february 2009
During an official visit of Vice-Premier of Russia Igor Sechin to China, JSC «Eastern Energy Company» and the State Grid Corporation of China concluded a three-month Contract for trial delivery of electric power from Russia to China through the existing power transmission lines – the 220 kV line between Blagoveschensk and Aygun and the 110 kV line between Blagoveschensk and Heihe. Actual fulfillment of the contract conditions started on March 01, 2009. In May, the Parties agreed to extend the Contract by the end of 2009. The total volume of electric power supplied under the Contract will amount to about 800 million kWh.

JSC «Eastern Energy Company» and the State Grid Corporation of China signed Additional agreement to the Boarder trade contract as of February 17, 2009. According the Additional agreement JSC EEC plans to export over 1 bln. kWh of electric power to People's Republic of China in 2010.
november 2010
Eastern Energy Company has completed the construction of a special transition passage of a 500kW power transmission line over the Amur River from Amurskaya substation to the State Border of Russian Federation with the Chinese People’s Republic. Therefore, the Company implemented the initial stage of the 500 kW power transmission line investment project aimed at the increase of power export from the Russian Federation to the Chinese People’s Republic from 1 to 4.5–5 billion kW/h per annum.
