Russia handed to China a draft agreement for cooperation in the energy sector
Vice Prime Minister of Russia Igor Sechin announced to media that Russia had handed to China a draft of intergovernmental agreement for cooperation in the energy sector, which made provisions for both electric power export and construction of generating capacities. He noted that formerly JSC «INTER RAO UES» had agreed to export electric power to China, the profit from which would be directed for construction of grids in the Far East. Nowadays, the Far East energy industry generates excessive electric power, which is very hard to redirect to the domestic consumption due to unavailable grid infrastructure. It is supposed that JSC «Energy Systems of the East» will perform construction of grid facilities and JSC «INTER RAO UES» will participate in their funding.
