China and Russia: new opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector

Relevancy and significant perspectives of energy cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China have been acknowledged at the highest level. Thus, at the meeting on May 21, 2009, President of Russia emphasized the necessity to attract Chinese investments for construction of facilities in the spheres of oil processing, oil-chemistry, coal production, transshipment in the Far Eastern ports, creation of generating capacities in the territory of Trans-Baikal and the Far East. China managed to carry out the revolution of their energy sector in the shortest time, which was crucial for the rapid economic growth of the country. Russia currently has to solve the same issues which China faced a decade ago. That’s why the experience of this country is especially valuable and useful for us. More
